Some script reading

One way to do it . . .

As I said in the prompt this afternoon, "our next task will be to read the play (or at least parts of it)." I've created four groups, each of which will need to read about 20 pages (as assigned in the table below). You should have a fairly good idea of the plot, from the Wikipedia summary, but you're free to read anything else in the play if you think it will help you think about your section. The text of the entire play is accessible on line, from the Moodle forum on reading the script. If you find it impossible to read on the screen, email me and I'll make a printed copy of your section available. Here are the assigned sections and the readers:

Here's what you should do: read your section of the play (and whatever else you like), inkshed about it for twenty minutes or so. I suggest, as usual, that you write your inkshed first, save it, and then post it to the forum.

What to write about for that long? Here are some issues you might be thinking about:

What in what you've read resonates with, or is related to, any of the work you've read or other people have reported about the play?
What particular moments in the part you've read do you think will pose challenges to the actors (not including simply remembering lines: actors just do that)?
What do you expect the part you've read to look like in the production? (For instance, what do you expect characters to be wearing? What might the stage look like?)
What lines or exchanges do you expect might get laughs from the audience? Other reactions?
Whatever else you think worth saying to the rest of your group reading the same section -- and then to the class as a whole

When you've written, post it to the Private Lives reading forum. Do it by Tuesday morning (in any case, before 1:00).

Learning journal, holiday

Take a holiday. Make it a good one. But remember to add an entry to your learning journal before Monday morning (for most folks, I'd expect that means Friday night).

Also, if you've already posted entries, please check the links from the Learning Journals page and make sure that your link works (they're updated as of Friday morning). While you're there, read some entries by other folks.
