English 3336 Restoration and Eighteenth Century Drama and Theatre
Prompt # 30
16 November 2012

Forward dead slow

What people think

I've printed out the responses to the anonymous questionnaire I set up last time. We'll take a few minutes to read through them, and then I'll ask you what you think. There are three pages; I've printed a couple of copies of each. As you read, feel free to underline or comment in the margins. If you initial each page you've read you'll know which you haven't read yet.

Choosing a play

We have four recommendations of plays. I don't know whether people have already read them (I would hope so but don't expect so), so I'll have copies of those to read through, again a couple of copies of each. When you've read all of them (marking & commenting as you go), we'll do a round and I'll ask you to speak in support of one play other than the one you recommended. Why should we read it?

I hope we'll come to a decision, and be in a position to read the play, posting a reading diary, for class next Wednesday. I'll post a prompt about finding a script, and add some suggestions about what to look for as you read. As with The Great Favourite, you should keep the diary as you read, either with a keyboard next to you or in a notebook which you then transcribe into a file, and post it to the Forum I'll put up.

Post your diary by Monday night. Read other people's on Tuesday. Wednesday morning we'll talk.

Learning journal

This week for your learning journal, read the last entries other people posted before posting your own.
