: raising awareness; it gives the victim more voice; working with journalists to develop best practices; the topic should be discussed more broadly in the media; as it is redefined as a public issue it becomes less taboo; it shows how the media frames issues; with more awareness the number of cases will go down; to better represent the reality; putting research to work; better data collection; better information; reporting more about the victim rather than the crime done to them; reframing the issue as a social problem; not blaming the victim; it looks at the issue as a social problem rather than a single private tragedy; public outreach; better understanding of terminology; to better inform the public; raise awareness without shaming the victim; to help bring awareness about media misrepresentation; to see how issues are framed.
