Parent, Teacher and Pupil Roles - Questions

 

1.  During a call to a parent you are told that they do not believe nor support your practice of assigning homework. Where do you stand from a legal perspective?

 
2.  An irate parent enters your classroom and in ‘no uncertain terms’ proceeds to tell you what she thinks of your classroom management practices and that she will not be paying for the textbook her son destroyed. What recourse do you have to listening to her abuse and dealing with the issue? 

 
3. A thirteen year girl refuses to attend school and is supported by her somewhat permissive/indulgent parent, who expects you to provide the child with extra help on the days she does attend. What recourse do you have to deal with this concern?

5. A teacher coach determines that two members of the soccer team have been drinking in their hotel room while attending the regional championships. What authority does she have to discipline the students?

 

6. Two students beat up another student while they are on their way to school in the morning. Does the school have any authority to deal with this behaviour?
