Spiritual
Diversity and Social Justice:
Second Annual Canadian Conference on Spirituality and Social Work
June 4-5, 2004
Dalhousie University, Halifax
In addition to a keynote presentation this conference will include
experiential workshops (1.5 hours each) and academic papers (30 minutes
each). In addition to encouraging scholarship, this conference welcomes
presentations and participation of graduate students and practitioners
from social work and other disciplines. Experiential workshops and
papers can be on diverse topics related to the conference theme; experiential
workshops should engage participants in an activity or ritual. Potential
topics may include linking spirituality and social justice with areas
such as: social services workplace; social change; the environment;
social work practice; social work training of future practitioners;
diverse groups; the use of rituals; feminist thought; and the history
of Canadian social welfare.
All submissions
will be subjected to a double-blind peer review and the notifications
sent out as soon as possible but no later than March 1. Selected academic
papers from the symposium will be forwarded, with author's agreement,
for double blind peer review consideration for an edited book based
on presentations at this and last year's conference.
Abstract submissions
(200 words) for either an experiential workshop or an academic paper
are invited by January 6, 2003. Please submit proposals for either

and presentations may be in either English or French. French/English

À PRÉSENTER DES COMMUNICATIONS
La
diversité spirituelle et la justice sociale
Deuxième conférence canadienne sur la spiritualité
et le service social,
à être tenue les mercredi et jeudi, 4 et 5 juin, 2003.
à l'Université Dalhousie, Halifax, Nouvelle Écosse
À l'ordre du jour de cette conférence figureront une
présentation plénière, des ateliers expérientiels
de 1,5 heures chacun et des communications académiques de 30
minutes chacune. Les organisateurs de la conférence invitent
des académicien(ne)s, des étudiant(e)s de deuxième
et troisième cycles et des professionnels du service social
et d'autres disciplines à participer et à y offrir des
présentations. Les ateliers expérientiels et les communications
pourront traiter de divers sujets reliés au thème de
la conférence. Les sujets potentiels incluent l'établissement
de liens entre la spiritualité et la justice sociale dans des
champs d'intérêts tels que: le lieu de travail en service
social; le changement social; l'environnement; la pratique du service
social; la formation de futur(e)s practicien(ne)s; l'adaptation des
connaissances en service social aux besoins autochtones; l'emploi
des rituels; la pensée féministe; et l'historique du
bien-être social au Canada.
Veuillez faire
parvenir vos propositions sous forme d'un résumé de
200 mots, soit pour un atelier expérientiel ou pour une communication
académique, avant le 6 janvier 2003, à John Coates,
Université St. Thomas, Fredericton, N.B., E3B 5G3, ou à
son adresse courriel : jcoates@stthomasu.ca.
Les propositions seront évaluées par des pairs, de façon
anonyme, et les notifications seront acheminées avant le 1er
mars 2003. Par la suite, avec l'accord des auteurs, certaines communications
académiques présentées au symposium se verront
soumises à une seconde évaluation anonyme par des pairs
en vue de leur inclusion dans un livre dont la publication contiendra
des présentations faites à cette conférence ainsi
qu'à celle de juin 2002.
