English 1006T
Prompt #11
25 October 2012

What we already share -- or don't

What goes without saying (again)

You should have with you a sentence from the article you've been working with which, in your opinion, presumes its reader already believes something, or a number of things, which you can identify.

In the groups we've been working in, share the sentences, and your explanations of them, around the group, and select two you think we might profitably discuss. When every group has decided on a couple (this should take fifteen minutes or so), copy your sentences into the appropriate slots on the form, write a short explanation of your choice, and let me know you're done by handing it to me.

We'll talk. We'll try to get around to all of them.

For next time

I've found five articles I think are provocative, each of which is at least distantly related to one of the five we've been working with. I've create a Moodle Forum for each.  They're linked from the main English 1006 page.

For Tuesday, read the one related to the article you've been working on, and at least two others, and write a response to at least those three in the Forum. When you respond, inkshed for at least three or four minutes (or write at least 100 words, whichever is longest). (The Forum will ask you to "Add a new question"; I have no idea why. You should just post a response to the article.)

Post responses before 1:00 Tuesday (before Religious Studies, that is), and I'll use that time to print and format them for reading and discussion.
