Prompt #24

reflecting on productions and scripts

moving from the page to JD 108

People have been commenting on their experiences of the one-act play productions on the Forum.  Let's talk about them. We'll do it in a rather different way, because there are so many postings on ten different plays, and I expect people will have different ones they'd particularly like to talk about -- and most people will not have read all of the responses posted in the last few days. We'll take the first half hour of class for people to go to the lab and find one pair of comments -- that is, a posting and a response to it -- that they think we should talk about. Focus on ones that you think raise issues this course has been concerned with -- that is, that go beyond how much people liked, or disliked, a particular production, and choose one set you think we should talk about.

Come back to 108 at 9:30 with the numbers of the postings you want to talk about (each posting has a number, in the outline; so, for example, the first two postings under "Check Please" would be 1, and 1.1), and we'll look at as many as we can.

for Friday

I'd like to get back to The Rover, and people's reflections on that production (as usual, their reflections in the context of this course's concerns about audiences, knowledge and expectations, and performance).  To refresh our memories, read through the Forum on that play for Friday's class -- particularly the postings on the section about seeing the production, but you might find something useful in the earlier reflections -- and select two postings that you think we should discuss. Respond to each, explaining why you think it might be worth talking about what the person posting had to say. Post your responses before 8:30 Friday; we'll talk about those in class.

finishing up

On Friday I'll have a prompt explaining how the final learning reflection for the course will work, and how the marks will be determined.
