The Art of Fact: Contemporary Literary Journalism
Prompt # 21
2 December 2013

Achieving something like closure

As usual

We've got a half dozen reports, which everybody has had a chance to read and respond to on the forum. I'd like to spend some time with each, making sure that everybody who has questions has a chance to ask them, and that we don't miss an opportunity to deepen our understanding of literary journalism by considering these six writers and their work.

I'd like to begin in a new way, though. I want everyone to take a sheet of paper and, for the next fifteen minutes, write out the best explanation you can of what you understand this form we've been considering since September to be. We'll read each other's, and then talk about the examples before us.

Finishing up

All will be made clear in Prompt #22.
