Most CMS programs provide "security" by making student files accessible only within the program -- that is, you need to have a course logon ID and password in order to see them. This is not always appropriate. Some teachers find the public nature of the Web an advantage, and there should be a way to make the student Web pages open to the world. Ideally, this should be configurable on the fly.
