Buddhism in the Modern World, Volume 3, "Encyclopedia of
Religion"
There is an extensive bibliography proceeding the article
including many authors. Some of these authors are Richard R. Robinson and
Willard L. Johnston. No primary author is given.
I think that the introduction that is given about Buddhism
in the modern world is very informative. The introduction starts out discussing
the sixteenth century and how history has affected Budhism to make it what
it is today. It discusses how Budhisms patterns and ways were replaced
by new ones and discusses why. This section compares the troubles that
other religions are having through the change of time with the troubles
that Budhism has been having and discusses how in ways they are similar.
I think that this article would be good for a university
student to use for their course. It discusses the background of what you
should know about Budhism. It discusses in depth what goes on in that type
of setting. I think a student would find this article helpful because of
how much information is given in the given space.
