Topic "Ritalin Craze in the 70’s"

In searching out, in hopes of finding some leads on the "Ritalin Craze" of the 70’s, I have come across some information and beliefs behind its uses such as, the profit is more desirable than the value of children’s lives, or, the name ADD/ADHD are fabricated to take the heat off parents and society for children they can’t or can’t be bothered to control, to name a couple.

I have found many, many websites with articles approving or disapproving Ritalin and it is many uses and drawbacks.

One website and reading seemed to be of particular importance listing many of the stereotypes attributed from the beliefs of ADD/ADHD and the history beginning in 1937 to the issue date of 1998.

http://home.att.net/~Fred-Alden/Es5.html "The Totality of the ADD/ADHD Fraud"

Another important find was "The Children’s Bill of Rights" protected by the Constitution of the United States of America. One of the rights states, "to be free from unwanted and excessive medication for the convienence of adults, including, but not limited to Ritalin."

Another area I found that may be quite useful is a website; http://www.chiro.org/places/ABSTRACTS/add.shtml, which has many details of ADD/ADHD, plus a history including dates of where it all began. From the 1800’s with nerve cell irregularities to present, also including many statistics and references to books pertaining to its history.

This seems to be a fascinating listing of compiled facts that should surely be investigated for further legitimacy and substantiality. There could be an enormous amount of information found and processed through the references listed.

Numerous websites, much to sift through, will surely lead us to some very interesting and convincing beliefs on the pros and cons of Ritalin.

I found a "Reference to the Controlled Substance Act of 1970," which details drugs in use and how they were classed in 1970.

The totality of my research has brought me to the belief we may never know the complete truth surrounding Ritalin and Attention Deficit Disorder. Some doctors and researchers debate if there is a disorder by this name at all, or if it is just a fabrication to promote pharmaceutical companies.

I believe our first step would be to find out how reliable our resources are and to take it from there.

We have a lot of work to do!
