Planting some crocuses and examing the garden
(30 September 2006)

Anne had figured out where she wanted them . She and Rachael couldn't quite see the point of laying hoses and cords on the ground and they thought putting a plastic Easter egg over each as we planted them seemed pretty silly at first, but it kept us aware of where they actually were. Now in the spring we'll get these pictures out and know where they should have come up, even if they don't.

And then I took a few pictures of the garden, especially the artichoke patch planted in honour of Kit, and the sunflowers , which we hadn't had much hope for but which, in the event, made a wonderful bouquet for the dining room table.
