Park Street School Creates a Garden
(committee chaired by Anne Hunt)
June 2004
After some months of negotiation, planning, liaising with the people
(like the Co-op, Devon Lumber, and others) who might be persuaded to
make donations to the project, one Monday in June a truckload of cedar
4X4s arrived. A hastily-assembled crew of parents, children, kibitzers
and supervisors cut the 4X4s into appropriate lengths and notched the
ends so that they could be held together with spikes.
The next day a load of soil had been delivered. Jerry Kemp (designer,
mover and shaker) and his crew began assembling the raised beds , and an
ad hoc group of young workers began moving the soil into them .
