As a professional association the New Brunswick Teachers’ Association is responsible for the professional conduct of its members. As a professional, each teacher is expected to abide by the Code of Professional Conduct of the NBTA. Because of the importance of maintaining proper behaviour of teachers the professional conduct of teachers is monitored through two separate but related processes. Some aspects of unprofessional conduct are dealt with solely through the ethics system of the NBTA. Other actions are dealt with both through the professional ethics system and by the courts. Therefore, this course complements School Law. The main objective of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on a broad range of issues that have been identified as ethical infractions.
