English 1006
Prompt #25
22 October 2013
Sharing some reflections, reflecting some more

The online discussion

There are now well over 70 posts and replies on the forum. No one is likely to read all of them, so how can we find the ideas most worth attending to? Here's a way to give everybody a chance to raise issues they think worth discussing. We'll begin with a short, focused inkshed (say about five minutes, by hand, right now). Just to make things easier to handle, I have some forms left over from a conference on inkshedding; I'll pass them around. Think back over the online discussion, and what issues were raised there that you'd like to have attention paid to. Focus on issues that might help us think about the relation between the reading of the script on the page and the watching of it enacted in the theatre. Put your name at the top, and then write for five minutes or so, making an argument that we should talk about some specific issue.

I'll set up some groups; we'll exchange inksheds between groups, and each group will decide on one primary inkshed to discuss, and one backup. We'll discuss them.

For next time

Next time will be a week from today, as I'll be out of town on Thursday. There will be a new prompt (actually, two prompts) up this evening to explain how we'll continue working; I'll email when they're available.
