Prompt #26
22 October 2013
Back to the text
For Thursday
Take a half hour or so to go back to the text. I suggest going back to the section of the text you were originally assigned to read, but if you know of something else you want to look for, feel free to use it. Select any passage of at least three or four lines (up to six or eight) that you think seems different than it did when you first read it, or was otherwise shaped for you by the way the TNB production presented it. This might be different in any way at all -- because you think now it's funny, and didn't then (or vice versa), because you think the characters' motives were different in the production from what you expected, because you understand them better now (or worse). Whatever. Copy the lines, exactly, into a new file, and explain what the difference is below them. You'll have to retype the lines, because I've been unable to find a way to allow you simply to copy and paste from this scanned file.
Post the text, and your explanation, on the new "Back to the text" forum that you'll find on the Moodle page. For the title of your posting, use just this: "Page #" (if it runs through a page break, "Pages #-#").
Do this by class time Thursday. Starting at 2:30 Thursday, read as many of these as you can in an hour and a half, and post thoughtful replies to at least three or four. I suggest you do this during class time. Over the next few days, read replies to your own posting (if any), and to other people's, and reply where you think it might be useful.
For next Tuesday
It's mid-term time. See Prompt #27.
