working on those one-act plays
The Rover
Some people will have seen The Rover and others won't, so we'll postpone discussion of that -- though discussion should be occurring on the Forum: if you've seen it, you should post on that thread; and by a week from now you should have replied (thoughtfully) to at least two people's postings about having seen the production.
Working on the one-act plays
We're going to be doing the assembly of information on the one-act plays
in a sequential pattern. Right now, the following groups exist, and each
of these people should have produced a report of what she found out about
the relevant play.
Courtney Cameron Christopher Campbell Nick Comeau Yasmin Glinton |
Andrea Hynes Greg Keezer Hilja Lindala Jeremy Peck |
Rebecca Rankin Scott Saulnier Sally Smith Alisha Sweezey |
You have the class time this morning to put together what you've found into the best assemblage of information you can -- a file that will be at least 500, but less than 1000 words in length. You should save this fused document as a file called guide1.htm in the engl2223 folder of one member of the group, and email me (as soon as you've done that, but no later than noon) to tell me whose folder it's in. You can work in the lab, or you can work here with printed copies (for today I've printed out all the ones that were there at 9:00, but the next time we do this I'll be asking you to print out your own and bring them to class). If someone's not here but her material is available, you should use it as you would were she here; if someone's here but has no material it's up to you whether you consider what she has to offer.
For next week
I've posted the next two sets of groups. They're linked from the "Research reports on one-act plays" line on the course main page. If you have a preference for a different play and can find someone to swap with you, feel free, and let me know so I can change the listing.
Your research assignment for the next two sets of plays is going to be the same: find what you can, bring it to class, and put it together in a document. Your second research file -- called playrep2.htm -- will be due at class time next Wednesday, and the third (called guess what) at class time Friday, the 11th.
Editing
We'll also be editing the guides. We'll do that this way: after the draft guides are posted today, you should read through the two you weren't involved in (they will be linked from the main course page) and post a thoughtful and helpful comment or suggestion for improvement on the relevant Forum (there are also links to that section of the Forum for each play on the main course page). For these three, you'll need to do that by the end of the day Monday, the 7th, so that people will have a chance to look at them and think about what you're suggesting.
Further plays
I'll distribute the second batch of scripts for five one-act plays this morning. (I had planned to do it on Wednesday, but got distracted by the Playgoer's Guide for The Rover).
