Prompt #17
March 4, 2011
a wiki, some planning, and a break

finding out about Black Comedy

Most of what we'll do today is find out what the Task Force has learned about Peter Shaffer and Black Comedy. When they're done there'll be a few minutes for questions, and then we'll give everyone the rest of the class time to go to the lab, or wherever they have access to the Internet, and post a thoughtful inkshed (take ten minutes to write; as always, don't say things were good or bad, but ask questions, make suggestions, offer connections) about the wiki and the presentation on the Forum I've set up for doing that. The deadline for posting will be the end of class time today.

I suggest that the members of the Editorial Team might want to meet during this time as well, to begin organizing what they'd propose to include in a Playgoer's Companion. they actually have until the Tuesday morning after spring break to arrive at an agreement,  but it would be my guess that it will be a good idea to organize at least some of what you're going to do before you leave for the break. I'll add the email addresses of the Editorial Team to the existing list (address is black@stu.ca) for the Task Force, so you'll be able to use that if it's helpful. You'll want to consult the inksheds on the Forum.

It may be worth considering that if you're counting on seeing Black Comedy at the Imperial, you'll need to begin thinking about transportation to Saint John. I'll set up a wiki page for organizing -- you'll be able to offer a ride, or ask for one, there.

midterm assessment

I'd hoped to have a process for midterm assessment ready to go before the break, but it hasn't happened. We'll do that immediately after we're back.

play scripts

A limited number of scripts for David Hare's Fanshen and Neil LaBute's Autobahn are available for signout -- in this case the signout will be for the whole of March break, so they'll be due back Monday morning, March 14.

learning journal

I'll count any posting between Monday, February 28 and Sunday night, March 13, as a journal entry for the period including the break.

a break

Have one. Make it restorative.
