Prompt #21

finding out about Fanshen

A presentation

This morning we'll have a presentation from the Task Force on David Hare's Fanshen. Then we'll discuss it -- but this time, rather than posting reflections on the presentation on a Forum, we'll write first (we'll inkshed), before we talk about it orally. So, while they're doing their thing, take some notes. When they've finished, take out a piece of paper, or ask me for one (it helps if it's 8 1/2 by 11, and not torn from a spiral notebook), and write for ten minutes or until you've filled the page. (Presenters will write, too.)  About what? Raise questions, speculate about what might be connected, think about what problems might be presented for a company putting the show on or an audience responding to it, or whatever else occurs to you. Make sure your name is at the top of yours.

When we've done that, we'll take another ten minutes for you to read as many other people's inksheds as you can, and mark things you think striking, interesting, or contentious (perhaps especially things you think the Editorial Team should be attending to).

At the end of this process we'll discuss the reading and writing, asking if people have issues -- probably ones they saw in someone else's inkshed -- they think should be attended to.

And then we'll give the inksheds to the Editorial Team, to do with as they see fit (and return to me later today).

Deadlines upcoming

I'll need a draft Playgoer's Companion in the wiki by Monday morning.

The Task Force on Autobahn should be working on the wiki (and should have posted on reading the script), and should be ready to present next Wednesday (we can't wait longer because the show is in Saint John and the Companions have to get down there ahead of time).

midterm reassessment

I said last time that if there were time, I'd take questions about the document on reading, and writing, learning reflections, and that we'd talk further about it on Friday. Let's try to make some time to do that.
