Prompt #14
March 14, 2008

what others have had to say;
working toward a schedule

The quotes

I've printed out the quotation files that were on line by 9:00. We'll discuss them in an order determined by the cards -- UHR first, and then The Hostage if we have time to start (we may continue this discussion on Wednesday).

schedule

I have copies of the ten one-act plays being put together by the seminar in production, and I'll distribute them this morning. Your required reading for the rest of the term will include those plays and The Rover. You will need to attend the productions of both (the one-acters only run two nights, April 18 and 19, so you need to make firm plans; The Rover runs April 2-5, which makes it easier).

We're going to be doing research on all of these plays. All of us will work on The Rover, and we'll create some overlapping groups to work on the one-acters. For each, we'll produce a Playgoer's Guide. The one on The Rover will be more ambitious; the one-acters will be less so.

So, you can start work. The deadline for reading and posting on The Rover will be next Wednesday (March 19). That's so that we can fold our reading of the script into our research. We'll be beginning to assemble research reports on the play next week; you should, as you read, be thinking about things it would be useful to find out about -- as we did with The Hostage.

The deadlines for the ten one-acters will be as follows (but obviously, you can do them earlier: they probably only take fifteen minutes or a half hour each to read):

I'll set up ten three or four-person groups, each to work on researching one those plays.  You'll be in three of the groups; and you'll need to work on four of them if you didn't either read or see Unidentified Human Remains. You should be checking to make sure you've done all of the required postings on The Hostage and UHR; I've put up a chart to make that clear. You can get to it from the records page on the course Web site.
